World Mental Health Day

CMHSIntroduction

In a bid to promote mental well-being and raise awareness about mental health issues, City Mental Health Services organized an insightful online program on World Mental Health Day. This event featured a diverse panel of 7 moderators, including Mr. Salar Fazie Rabbi, Ms. Iqra Rehman, Ms. Sana Shamim, Ms. Sidra Ahmed Ali, Ms. Unsa Waqar, Ms. Khadija Aslam, and Ms. Alishba Atif. Alongside these moderators, 14 speakers from various mental health disciplines shared their expertise on topics ranging from mindfulness and education to cyberbullying and drug abuse prevention.

Ms. Lamia Najam, a clinical psychologist, commenced the program by shedding light on the importance of mindfulness in everyday life. Prof. Irfan Hussain, a professor in applied psychology, provided valuable insights into educational and behavioral plans for children suffering from autism.

Dr. Nasreen Bano, an Assistant Professor at the University of Karachi, shared practical strategies for stress management. Ms. Semra Salik, the founder/director of Psych Care and a clinical psychologist, focused on the significance of being a friend to someone in need 

Ms. Aneeza Habib, a consultant clinical psychologist and clinical placement supervisor, advocated for normalizing therapy for therapists, recognizing the importance of mental health support within the profession. Ms. Farha Aftab, a clinical psychologist, delved into the strategies for managing challenging behaviors in children. 

Ms. Sumara Khanzada, another clinical psychologist, discussed the prevention of drug abuse, emphasizing the role of mental health in overall substance abuse prevention. Ms. Nida Alvi, the head of remedial services, highlighted the impact of dyslexia on mental health, emphasizing the need for understanding and support
